Hello,
My 1999 GTP 4-Door looks as if the rear end is slightly lower than the front end.
A little sag.

Anyone here have the same problem? If so, does anyone have a cure that won't be too complicated or cost too much?

Thanks!

I think someone was using heavier Alero rear springs. Otherwise, probably time for new struts and springs in the rear.

It doesn't sound right but for some reason when the rear struts are shot the rear sags. All you really need to do is replace the rear struts.

Why not do springs while you're back there. It would suck if you did the struts and then found out you had to go back and do the springs anyway.

A set of new KYB's will solve your issue.

Why not do springs and struts? Not doing springs will keep the cost down and you'll get the same results.

The stiffest rear springs from GM would be part # 10258880 $37.55 each. Available from http://www.gmpartsdirect.com
Grab a pair of KYB struts from Ebay, and new strut mounts No more sagging rear! hammer

I wish I did springs while I was in there. I put some Monroe Quick assembly sensatrac struts on a 99 GTP coupe. Lifted the rear quite a bit, but couldn't tell how much since there were 4 15" subs and one big arse amp in the back. But it definitely did the trick. Much easier than using compressors for the springs.

You should've used KYB's instead.

I just recently replaced my struts and springs all around with KYB AGX struts and the stiffest springs that I could possibly get for a W-body (other than airbag suspension). they were Olds Intrigue springs (rears) and they made my car sit slightly higher. I can tell, but 99% of other people can't. I love the ride- firm and tight, but not so stiff that it jars me around, plus I can adjust the damping rate of my struts to be a littile softer/harder, etc.

Can something simple be done to simply raise the rear an inch or two without replacing struts, shocks, or springs?

Any type of shims or something?

Ummm..its not that hard of a DIY. If its the money then not sure. But if you do something to lift it, then it is probably permanent and you won't get the comfort out of the suspension because of the stiff lift of some shimes or lock rods, bars of some sort to lift it.

I have been told, that the GP typically sags in the rear.....If you measure front to back there can be as much as a 1.5 inch difference...
I replaced my struts with KYB...still noticed a sag...then after replacing the rims with a different offset combined with a wider tire, I experianced wheel rub....
Soooooo I swapped out the rear springs with a set off an Oldsmobile Intrigue...(they are a progressive spring and seem to hold the back u0p.
Now the car sits level....I had it lowered but could never adjust to the harsh ride....and the whell rub has been solved
