- Problem Abstract: The HUD was VERY blurry and the trunk leaked so bad it was
a pool of water where the spare sat.
- Reported By: Mike Howells
- Year: 1997
- Model: GTP
- Applicable Options: 1SC
- Solution: I had another dealer
fix the blurry HUD and the trunk leak. The dealer I bought it from I
wouldn't trust to change the oil.
- Cost: All repairs were
factory warranty repair work. I know the windshield cost them at least $909
to replace. Who knows what it cost GM for the 4 days of labor to fix the
freakin thing.
- Other: The trunk leaked through the bolt holes that held the spoiler to the
trunk. He had to re-do the spoiler holes and seal it with some white gunk.
The blurry HUD was resolved by replacing the windshield. It turns out that
the non-HUD windshield was installed at the factory in Kansas City. I've
been told that GM is in such a hurry to get these cars out the door that
they are cutting corners on everything which in this case turned out to be
an incorrect windshield for the HUD. Needless to say how much money I spent
on this frigging car I was pissed beyond belief. Of course, the dealer
didn't want to have anything to do with me after I bought the car (they take
your money and don't let the door hit you on the way out). I went to another
more reputable dealer which resolved both problems for me.
