- Problem Abstract: Passenger coupe seatback tilts under braking
- Reported By: Adam Toner (atoner@mindspring.com)
- Year: Year
- Model: GTP
- Mileage: 12000
- Applicable Options: leather?
- Solution: None. I've taken the car to 4 dealers, had the seats pulled out and sent off to Kansas City or somewhere, and nothing seems fixed. 3 dealers said there wasn't a problem (checked with new cars on the lot, called Pontiac) and the last one apparently went to even more trouble by sending the seats off. Still no real fix, and I'm tired of messing with it. For now, I just tilt the passenger seat all the way back when I go for joy rides.

- Other: Here's the problem: When I'm driving around with no passenger in my GTP coupe, under moderate braking the passenger seatback tilts forward, which allows the seat to slide forward on the floor track. This is really distracting and annoying. I doubt it is safe either, but apparently if a person is in the seat it won't tilt far enough forward in an accident to let the seat slide forward (which, IMHO would be bad in an accident). There's apparently supposed to be an inertial catch in the seat mechanism to keep the seatback from tilting forward under braking, and I can here a little metallic thing in there when I tilt the seat forward. It sure as hell isn't doing its job.
